The Cowards

The most remarkable moment in life is when you meet the person who makes you feel complete. The person who makes the world a beautiful and magical place. The person with whom you share a bond so special that it transcends normal relationships and becomes something so pure and so wonderful that you can’t imagine spending another day of your life without them. For Meghan, that happened about few months ago during OUR Zoom call and we met for the first time, and we became best friends But about 4 years ago she met Jared in Alaska, and is pretty wonderful, too. I know how deeply these two care for and love one another, and I feel privileged to be here today among all of you as a witness of their commitment to a lifetime of love for one another.

Remember when I mentioned that Zoom call where I met Meghan? She shared the story last night how she and I were lasered in on each other feverishly chatting away, until I asked who the dude was sitting next to her. Now those of you who know Jared, I am certain the phrase “Chatty Cathy” comes to mind, am I right?

Well boy howdy let me tell you that you just have to get him talking about the right subject. I did just that. I asked him how we felt loved by Meghan. Here’s a little bit, because as their newest friend, I promised that I wouldn’t read the whole thing.

“Meghan does an amazing job making me feel loved and cared for! She always acknowledges and praises my accomplishments, no matter how big or how small. She has a magical way with words and emotions which have always made me believe in myself and my capabilities.” I know what he’s talking about because you do it too…

Here is what Meghan shared when asked about how she feels loved by Jared.

There has been a lot of learning in our love. Learning about giving love in a way that you don't prefer to receive it. Learning to communicate in a way that you don't speak. Learning that not everyone feels loved by the little things. The devotion to learning me is really how I feel loved by Jared. “

Meghan listed many qualities and finished with this one… The "good job, keep going, I love you" when I'm on hour 16 at the hospital. Small things that show support and trust and solidarity and care. All of it is noticed.”

They wrote these letters to me with trust me that I would be careful with their hearts. Friends, I don’t take it lightly that I will get to be the first person to call you husband and wife. I will know you as Meghan and Jared for right now, in this blink of time… for after today, we will all know them together in marriage.
